On Thursday Mrs Tracey Anthony took the PP-6 classes through an amazing yoga journey in the Hall. Students were able to relax, stretch, meditate, listen and practiced lots of new poses. Thank you to Mrs Anthony for leading us through this fabulous session.
La Salle College Music Performance
This week the PP-6 classes were treated to a wonderful incursion from secondary students from La Salle College. The talented musicians played a variety of different musical styles and explained the features of their instruments. It was an inspiring session for the attending students.
Year 5 Excursion
On Monday 21st October, the year five class took an excursion to the Perth Zoo. Our means of transport was very precise. First, we took the train, then the underground and finally, the ferry.
When we arrived at the zoo, we were divided into our three groups which each had an assigned teacher. These included Ms Flynn, Mrs Wilkie and Miss Hodson.
We immediately ate recess then commenced with exploring the zoo. My group first visited the Asian rainforest where we saw giraffes, sun bears, tigers, various monkeys, a snake (Madagascan tree boa), a red panda and the elephants. At around twelve o’clock, we headed off to the newly renovated learning-about-zoo-animals room where we met a nice woman called Clare. She taught us about animal adaptations. She also set each group the task of answering questions about adaptations of a specific animal- ours was the Southern White Rhino. We also felt a hinge back turtle.
My favourite part of the excursion was visiting the reptile house (which we visited after the talk) where I saw numerous snakes. Some of these included a Pygmy python, Cuddles the reticulated python, the tiger snake and a dugite. I also loved seeing a chameleon enclosure (though we did not see the chameleon itself). Seeing a frog was also amazing as I watched it breathing in its tank. I never tire of the reptile house!

On Monday, we went to the zoo. My group leader was Miss Hodson. We went to my two favourite areas at Perth zoo; the reptile encounter and the Australian bushwalk. In the Australian bushwalk, I did my animal adaptation sheet on the numbat. My favourite animal that I got to see was the common death adder. The death adder is one of the most venomous snakes on earth, not to mention that there isn’t just one species of death adder, there are lots! I also got to see the tiger snake, and the biggest snake in the reptile encounter was the Burmese python, and it was massive! After that, we went to the Australian bushwalk, and there we saw kangaroos, echidnas, and a numbat. We also went through the Australian wetlands, and the penguin area. The penguins were amazing!
