Late Arrivals to School
Please note, if your children are late to school (ie arrive after 8:40am), they must be signed in at the Office. Otherwise they will show as absent on the roll. Thank you.
Absence Calls/Notes/Emails
Please note, after an absence a SIGNED NOTE needs to be provided to the teacher on your child’s return to school. The Department of Education Services has confirmed that whilst an SMS or phone message is NOT a substitute for a signed note when reporting absences, an email meeting the following criteria can be accepted:
- FULL name of the student
- CLASS / roll group of the student
- Date
- Reason for the absence
- FULL NAME of the PARENT/GUARDIAN at the end of the message (the ‘from’ email address is not sufficient).
Please send emails meeting the above criteria to: admin@stmichaelsbass.wa.edu.au or fill in the online absentee form on the Connected app.
Please note, teachers do not get to sit down and check their emails first thing in the morning, so if you have emailed the teacher regarding your child’s absence, they may not receive the information until later in the day. Therefore, please do not be upset if you receive an SMS or phone call from the Office to clarify the absence. For this reason, a phone call to the ABSENTEE LINE 6278 9802 is a more efficient way of communicating an absence than an email to the class teacher.

Upcoming Webinar:Brave parenting in a culture riddled with worry
Through our school membership with Parenting Ideas, all St. Michael’s parents can attend the upcoming webinar for parents at no charge.
About
This webinar is designed to help parents understand where their anxiety about their kids comes from, and why they don’t let their kids do half the stuff they did growing up.
Hear from Lenore Skenazy, President of Let Grow, a non-profit promoting childhood independence and resilience, and founder of the Free-Range Kids movement. Lenore will talk about ways to make it easy and normal to start loosening the reins so both generations get more freedom. Key learning outcomes include:
• Why treating our kids as physically and emotionally fragile is bad for their future
• That your kids are not in constant danger
• How independence impacts children
• How to raise nimble problem solvers
• Ideas to know how safe, smart and capable your kids can be
Overview
When: Wednesday 27 November 2019 8:00pm AEDT
Price: Usually $37 per person, however, this webinar is free of charge for St. Michael’s families.
About the experts

Walk to School Day
The St Michael’s P&F are passionate about your children’s safety. This year we have started the application process to have a state funded lollipop crossing installed across Guildford Rd at the end of Wilson St.
We will have a volunteer stationed at the crossing on the 18th of November 2019 between the hours of 7:30am to 8:30am in the morning and 3:00pm and 4:00pm in the afternoon counting the number of people crossing the road and handing out stickers to our supporters.
