Message from the Principal – Newsletter 18

Dear Parents and Caregivers

I hope you have all had a great week. We have had a mix of wet and dry weather and enjoyed the sunshine during the play breaks.

On Thursday afternoon, an email was sent to parents to provide an overview of the end of term reporting structure. An email was also sent out to all registered parents registered with Seqta Engage to re-provision their account due to our change of administration systems. Parents have a week to click the link and follow the instructions. Reports will be available Wednesday 1 July. Teachers will be available to meet early Term 3 to discuss student progress and set learning goals.

After a challenging and different sort of term, we are looking forward to some fun on the last day of school. On Friday 3 July, students will be participating in NAIDOC activities. In conjunction with the Parents and Friends, the students will also be enjoying a disco ran by Footsteps dance company and enjoying a hotdog for lunch. And to make the day even better, students can come in NAIDOC coloured free dress ready to dance. Read more in the Assistant Principal news.

We will have our first mass of the term on Wednesday 1 July. The NAIDOC themed mass will be shared among the participating Year 4, 5 and 6 classes. Due to the current 100 person limit, parents will not be able to attend the mass. In Term 3, we have organized dates to celebrate First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. For each, we have made plans that factor in the current restriction of 100 people and we are also making plans in the case of eased restrictions which would allow more people to attend. The First Reconciliation Ceremony will be held at 5pm on Wednesday 29 July. First Holy Communion will be the weekend of 8/9 August with the day and time to be confirmed.

This week, we went live with the transition to AoS (Administration of Schools) software. The office staff have been involved in training this week while Mrs Saunders and I cover the office and answer phone calls. The change of system impacts the management of the school finances and parents will notice some changes. An email has already been sent out with information to update BPay payments and there will be further information about the direct debit. As part of the new process, fee statements will be sent out regularly by email. No more printing and folding statements into the envelopes for Del!

In the Community Section of the newsletter, the P&F have Entertainment Books for sale. Many families purchase the books so why not support the P&F in the process.

Mrs Mueller has provided valuable information for supporting students post COVID-19. Read it in the School Social Worker News.

We are looking for sand to fill our raised garden beds. If anyone is doing landscaping and has excess sand or know of anyone who might be trying to get rid of sand, let us know.

Lastly, well done to the Media Ministry this term for the work preparing items for the newsletter.

Have a great weekend.
