New faces at St Michael’s

This week we welcomed Mrs Renee Vassiliou who is our Visual Art Specialist teacher, and Mrs Rochelle Albert, Music Specialist teacher. The students were very excited to begin their journeys of learning with these two enthusiastic new staff members.

Sacramental Celebrations

On Wednesday 29 July, the candidates from St Michael’s will be participating in First Reconciliation at St Joseph’s Parish. Thank you to the Year 3 teachers, including Mrs Cullen last semester, for helping prepare the students.

On Sunday 9 August, the Year 4 candidates will be participating in the Sacrament of First Eucharist. This event is dependent on Western Australia continuing the easing of restrictions on 1 August. If there are any changes, we will notify the community to keep everyone informed.

Digital Social Media Training Platform

This semester, St Michael’s Year 5 and Year 6 students are being given the opportunity to participate in a secure training platform designed to support responsible and safe engagement with social media. ‘Digii Social’, or “social media with training wheels” offers our senior students a digital environment designed by educational researchers to assist them in understanding how to develop their own healthy digital identity. Each student completes surveys throughout their trial and their social interactions are moderated by wellbeing experts, parents and educators. We can’t wait to see what the children learn throughout this exciting experience.
