Pentecost Sunday

This Sunday, we celebrate the birth of the Church. The disciples, scared after Jesus had left them, were gathered in one place. They heard a rushing of wind then tongues of fire appeared above their heads and they were filled with the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus had promised. The disciples, filled with hope, went out to the crowds to spread the word of God.  St Peter gave a sermon to the large crowd and began the mission of the church.

Dear Lord,

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.
